Overview
Industrial symbiosis has significant potential to support resource efficiency and the circular economy, but its wider implementation is still constrained by gaps in knowledge, methods, data and standardisation frameworks. Research and innovation can help address these gaps by providing the scientific and technical basis needed for the development, improvement and implementation of standards.
Drawing on the results of the Horizon Europe RISERS project (risers-project.eu) , this webinar will explore the role of R&D in supporting the standardisation of industrial symbiosis. It will present standardisation needs identified through the analysis of existing R&I projects, highlight priority areas where further research is required, and discuss how future R&D activities can be better aligned with standardisation needs. The session will also consider how research results can be translated into evidence, methods and recommendations that can contribute to standardisation processes and support the wider uptake of industrial symbiosis solutions.
Objective: To present R&D needs and priorities that can support the standardisation of industrial symbiosis and help translate research results into standardisation activities.
Target audience: Researchers and R&I professionals working on Industrial Symbiosis, circular economy, resource efficiency, and related green-transition topics, particularly those interested in how research results can contribute to standardisation.
