Ten out of the planned 15 Academic Standards Days organised by EDU4Standards across Europe have recently concluded.
These events brought together students, academic experts, and industry professionals with the aim of increasing interest in the world of standards within academia, laying the foundations to train a new generation of experts.
Each meeting was dedicated to a different theme related to technological and regulatory innovation:
- In Sweden, standardisation in the ICT sector was analysed, with a specific focus on information security and cybersecurity;
- In Spain, the event took place over two days focused on the impact of standards on the future of students and, subsequently, on educational innovation for lecturers and researchers;
- In Italy (Milan), the role of standardisation in the circular economy and innovation was explored in depth;
- In Germany, the crucial role of standards as the foundation of the European single market was debated;
- In Slovenia, structured over 3 days, the meeting focused on the importance of technical standards as a synonym for quality, efficiency, and product safety in the market;
- In Cyprus, attention turned to the impact of standardisation on modern economies and sustainable development;
- In Serbia, the value of standards in dual education, innovation, and research was discussed, also adding an in-depth look at standards for assistance dogs;
- In Italy (Florence), the focus was placed on the role of international standards for product safety and global market access, with particular attention to electromedical devices;
- In Romania, technical standards were examined as a gateway for the integration of young people into the industrial sector;
- In Austria, the importance of introducing standardisation skills into academic pathways was finally discussed;
These meetings were fundamental to understanding the importance of training within the field of standardisation.
EDU4Standards has therefore achieved its objective of laying the foundations for an integrated information ecosystem, bringing the academic and industrial worlds closer together and paving the way for future professionals in the sector.
In the future, indeed, investing in the skills of young people will be the key to ensuring compliance, safety, and global economic development.
