EDU4Standards nominated for the 2026 CEN and CENELEC Standards+Innovation Awards

The nomination recognises the project's contribution to embedding standardisation in European higher education.

EDU4Standards has been nominated by DIN ( Deutsches Institut für Normung) and supported by UNI (Ente Italiano di Normazione) for the 2026 CEN and CENELEC Standards+Innovation Awards in the projects category.

CEN and CENELEC announced this year's nominees on 24 September. Now in its eighth edition, the awards recognise research and education initiatives that strengthen the link between knowledge, innovation and standards in Europe.

The nomination comes as the project enters its final months. Since January 2024, coordinated by Fraunhofer ISI, EDU4Standards has brought together 17 partners, including universities, national standardisation bodies and CEN and CENELEC, with a shared aim: making standardisation a standard part of higher education curricula across Europe. The consortium has worked to turn this aim into practical resources that educators, students and institutions can use beyond the lifetime of the project.

The project’s distinctive contribution is standardisation education in line with European values and interests.

This contribution is realised through three mutually reinforcing core outcomes: the Innovative Teaching Concept for Standardisation as the educational implementation framework; policy recommendations and European Standardisation Education Roadmap as the policy uptake instrument; and the CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA) Guidelines on education and training in standards and standardisation as the standardisation and transfer instrument.

The Innovative Teaching Concept for Standardisation combines a value-based Intended Learning Outcomes framework, a topical and methodological map, a use guide, teaching materials and repositories, pilot courses, Academic Standards Days and the Teacher Support Tool: "In doing so, EDU4Standards.eu translates standardisation education in line with European values and interests into curricula, teaching formats and learner tasks for higher education, professional training and lifelong learning".
