Standardisation education is not only about technical rules. It also reflects the values Europe stands for, and it shapes how future professionals, researchers and decision-makers engage with the standards that underpin the Single Market, industrial competitiveness and the green and digital transitions.
This section brings together the policy briefs developed within EDU4Standards to inform policymakers, industry and standardisation bodies. The briefs contribute to the objectives of the EU Strategy on Standardisation, which calls for stronger standardisation skills and education across Europe, and offer evidence-based recommendations on how this agenda can be advanced at European and national level.
Stand-EUVI: The Austrian Perspective
The first brief in this section was developed by researchers from the University of Graz, Austrian Standards International and other Austrian partners. It shows how standardisation education can help Europe remain competitive, innovative and resilient while supporting the green and digital transitions. At its core is Stand-EUVI, an approach to standardisation in line with EU values and interests, which equips people to recognise and address value and interest conflicts in real standardisation contexts.
The brief also sets out practical ways the European Commission can support this agenda, from guidance and targeted funding to peer learning, without imposing fixed curricula. It is available in a full and an executive version, both published on Zenodo.
