Stand-EUVI Summer School – The Threefold EDU4Standards.eu Pilot

Course name

Teaching Standardisation in line with EU values and interests for HEI teachers and trainers, and researchers from different academic fields

September 2025
Level 6,7,8
Teaching methods and content:

The pilot project was aimed at educators, researchers and trainers. As professionals from very different backgrounds took part, who wanted to learn more about “standardisation in line with European values and interests” (Stand-EUVI) in order to identify opportunities in their own work, all participants were regarded as experts in their field, some of whom (“speakers”) made short contributions. These contributions formed the basis for comprehensive peer-to-peer discussion and invited participants to try things out (define ILOs; design roadmap towards a standad; scetch standardisation policy for HEIs).
Key activities included:
- Learn basics on EU values, interests and standardisation (Stand-EUVI)
- Broad inter- and transdisciplinary discussion
- Playing, walking, hiking, having fun together

Pilot Overview

This pilot was conducted by the University of Graz, with contributions from EDU4Standards.eu project partners, CEN, Cenelec, ETSI, DIN and Austrian Standards International (ASI). The Stand-EUVI Summer School was designed as an immersive and interdisciplinary programme focused on teaching standardisation aligned with European values and interests (Stand-EUVI). Held in Graz from 15–19 September 2025, it offered a co-creative environment for educators (the “Educators’ Academy”), researchers (“Putting research into Standards”), and knowledge transfer professionals (TTOs).

In the joint basic section (2 days), participants exchanged ideas and reflected together on Stand- EUVI. On the third day, the groups split up into workshops. On day 4 and 5, the educators focused on integrating Stand-EUVI into their respective lessons by developing specific learning objectives (Intended Learning Outcomes, ILOs) getting to know basic material (ETSI handbook) and the EDU4Standards Teachers' Support Platform (TSP). The last day of the Educators' Academy was also devoted to strategic considerations (study programs, curricula).
